About Boris ~ purebred border collie (On Trial 17/4/15)
Boris is an 18 month old pure bred male border collie looking for a special forever home, where he can have space to run, and a human to follow around.
Boris is a smart and loving dog. He knows how to sit, stay and wait for food, and learns new commands very quickly. He also walks very well on a lead. He is very affectionate and loves pats and cuddles. He is also very quiet (unless there is a possum up a tree in his backyard).
Boris has lived with other dogs his whole life, and does generally get along well with other dogs once he has had a chance to be properly introduced, and is comfortable with them. He is currently living with two female kelpies, and they are getting a long very well, and spend a lot of the day playing and wrestling. It would be best if Boris could meet any furry friends in his new family before he moves in. He may also suit a home where he is the only dog. His new owner should be able to do some ongoing training and socialising with him so that he is more comfortable around other dogs and people.
Boris has spent most of his life outdoors, and is very well behaved outside. However he has been spending more time indoors at his carer’s house, and loves being with the family. He will sit happily and quietly at your feet (or beside you on the lounge if he is allowed), and loves nothing more than a good snuggle and a pat. He is also housetrained. Ideally he should have some inside time every day in his new home.
Boris hasn’t spent much one on one time with his carer’s cat, but he is very calm when he sees the cat, and has never shown any aggression towards it. I’m sure he could be rehomed with cats, as long as they were supervised closely together initially.
Boris must not be homed with any children under the age of 14, as he is much better with adults who know how to be gentle with him at all times. His ideal home would probably be with an older couple who he can follow around all day.
For more information or to meet Boris please phone foster carer Elizabeth on 0403 796 405 or email e_hammell@hotmail.com . Boris is in foster care in Medowie, NSW 2318. (Port Stephens, 20 mins north of Newcastle)
Boris’ $500 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
