About Ellie ~ Inner City Gal-Pal (On Trial 17/5/15)
Introducing Ellie, a 6 year old dainty and sweet cattle dog x kelpie who's raising her paw to be your new gal-pal and loving companion. Ell Jay, who's nicknamed Ellie, adores her humans and bonds very quickly to her family, especially to the ladies of the house. She's like that Gucci hand-bag that you want to take everywhere but this Gucci girl will love you back (unlike the handbag!). \ Ellie loves to hang out with her girlfriends and do the things that girls enjoy like laying in front of the TV watching chick flicks and taking leisurely walks on the beach or around town. Ellie's a great listener so if you need a shoulder to cry on over your woes, she'll listen all day long and will console you as all good BFF's do.
Ellie would love a furever home where she can relax inside a lot. She would also suit a couple or single who works from home so that she can sit at your feet in your home office and supervise your work. She's met older kids and teenagers and is good with them, she might be easily startled by young kids and their friends. As with most dogs Ellie doesn't like being left alone for hours on end in a yard, so if you leave her inside when you pop out she feels more secure. She's well past puppy stage so she isn't destructive if left inside. Ellie loves her humans so much that she can easily jump 6 foot colourbond fences to follow you when you go out. If there were doggie Olympics she would win a gold medal in high jump! She's not jumping to be naughty or get up to mischief, she just wants to find and be with you. \ So if you live in an inner city suburb in a semi-style house with extra high 2 metre walls (like Newtown, Leichardt, Bondi or Newcastle) then Ellie would love to meet you and show you what a loyal and loving gal friend she can be. \
Ellie doesn't need a large yard, so a high fenced smaller sized yard with daily walks and outings is perfect for her. She may also suit an acreage lifestyle (as we know that she can jump farm fencing in a heart beat!), but if given space and a loving home then she may chose not to jump or go anywhere away from her beloved family. She has good recall if you bribe her with a squeaky toy.
Ellie's favorite toys are balls, ropes and squeaky toys and she will play fetch with you for as long as you will play. She walks well on a lead and has great lead manners... She will only occasionally pull if she smells something intriguing but responds well when corrected. If you have friends in the neighbourhood with dogs then she's happy for them to join in on her walk. She'll play fetch in the park with you if you take a toy along. Ellie is so people focused that even though she will say Hi when meeting other dogs, she's really focused on her number one.. you!
Ellie is in foster care with a young and pesky young dog who is very full on and in her face. She endures his shinanigans so is quite tolerant, however she does prefer interactions with calm older dogs who are sensible like she is. Ellie is very well trained and can sit, lie down and stay until given the command to move. She needs to sleep inside on a warm cosy bed at night time, and to be kept inside during storms as she is scared of loud noises and thunder.
If you are looking for loyalty, devotion and unconditional love then Ellie is the gal-pal for you, so please contact her foster mum Jessie on 0448143695 or jessiefish@live.com.au \ Ellie is in foster care near Woy Woy on the NSW Central Coast.
Ellie’s adoption fee is $300. It includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping and registration.
Medical notes
Ellie has pink pigmentation around her eyes (which is very common in predominantly white dogs) which occasionally gets bathed with saline solution.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
