About Rupert *On Trial in His New Home*
*RUPERT IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Introducing Rupert, an absolutely super-cute mix of Australian Terrier and ShihTzu/Maltese. With the colouring of the Australian Terrier, an under-bite and a curling ShihTzu tail, covered in quite soft hair that he just loves you to pat Rupert is sure to win some hearts!
At 18 months of age he is fully grown and quite a small package. Weighing in at just under six kilos, Rupert thinks he’s the perfect size for you to pick him up and give him a hug! He’s very friendly and reckons adult humans are just so much fun to spend time with and he’s good around well-behaved children.
Being a pretty laid back little guy, he gets along well with cats as well as dogs of all shapes and sizes. \ He has lived his life so far with other dogs and would make a perfect companion to another. He isn’t particularly fussed with toys, nor with balls, but would rather spend time with another dog or rolling over for a belly rub from his human. As he has not experienced being an only pet, he would ideally go to a home with other furries or with people who can spend a lot of time with him as he’s used to having company.
Nothing much bothers Rupert; he isn’t likely to bark at the neighbours’ dog or people walking by the fence, or at the full moon. Rupert is house trained though is quite content being outside with his foster carers own little dogs. When inside he loves to sit on the couch next to you and gaze up adoringly with those big doe eyes while you pat or brush his lovely soft fur. This little man sleeps in his own bed and is very particular about the bed being quite a firm base; he won’t sleep on a cushy mattress at all!
Rupert is a very relaxed walker who doesn’t pull on the lead and is quite happy to trot along beside you, even when he is being walked with another dog. Being quite responsive to treat incentive training Rupert can sit already and will be easy to train to visual or vocal cues. Speaking of food he is quite fussy at mealtimes not wanting to eat dry food, which he needs to start eating to ensure his beautiful teeth stay healthy, so perseverance will be the key. His health is excellent though he did dislocate a knee when a pup and while it’s not hurting him or impacting upon his ability to walk, run or jump at all, he does always sit with that leg to the side.
Handsome Rupert doesn’t drop much hair though he will need the occasional professional groom as it does grow quite long – must be the ShihTzu/Maltese in him!

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
