About Elmo ... Irish wolfhound love-bug
Do you have cats, chooks, or other non-canine pets, or does your property only have farm fencing? Then Elmo is not the dog for you.
Do you work long hours, have no other dogs, and want a dog that will tolerate being left all alone for hours on end without chewing things out of stress and boredom? Then Elmo is not the dog for you.
Are you unable to manage a 24 kilo dog jumping up to say hello or towing you enthusiastically around the neighbourhood on your daily walks? Then Elmo is not the dog for you. (Although to be fair, Elmo is much better behaved on the lead when walked on a training harness.)
Do you want a dog that is unafraid of banging blinds, falling mops, bouncing balls and small, enclosed spaces? (And yes, a laundry with a closed door counts as a small, enclosed space.) Then Elmo is not the dog for you.
Then who IS Elmo for?
Elmo would make a great fit in a household that is looking for a playmate for their existing dog. He'd be equally happy in a home where he has near-constant human companionship.
He is a big extrovert, so if you're looking for a dog that will play nicely at the dog park and welcome all your human visitors with affection, Elmo is the dog for you.
Elmo fancies himself as a lap dog and will want to be near you all the time (lying on top of you, given half a chance). His capacity for giving and receiving love is boundless. So if you're looking for a large breed dog that will gladly cuddle with you whenever you want, Elmo is the dog for you.
