About Jemma ~ Greyhound x Mastiff ~ On Trial 2/4/15
Introducing Jemma - she is 100% your new best friend! Jemma was rescued from the pound and she is very grateful to her humans as it shows in her wonderful disposition!
Jemma is approximately 12 months old and is a large mixed breed beauty – she’s a Greyhound x Mastiff (possibly with a bit of chilled out Great Dane added to her mix!). She is a stunning tan brindle colour with long legs even though she isn’t as tall as her breed mix would suggest. She may be only 12 months young but she is very mature for her age. She’s a perfect mix as she’s still a pup but without the puppy stage problems – she’s not a chewer or destructive and she’s easily occupied.
Jemma has impressed her foster family as she has integrated into the “farm” lifestyle with ease! \ She’s been introduced to horses, cats and dogs and she has taken it all in her stride and she has a big stride! In her foster home she borders on hundreds of acres of state forest – so Jemma has taken well to a daily bush walk with her foster mum and doggy pals. Day one on leash, day two, a trial off leash, day three, running with her foster brother and sister with fantastic recall! \ She is a very fast learner. She has lots on energy, so would suit an active family, but is also happy to sit on the front porch and watch the world go by. \ She is low maintenance, with a gorgeous short silky coat, she loves a bath, and enjoys being patted and hugged by her humans. Jemma is best in a home that doesn’t have chickens or pocket pets like guinea pigs.
She is happy to sleep on her bed all night with no barking or bother. She is very food and treat focused so is a pleasure to train. She is very polite and waits for her food, and shows no food aggression whatsoever. In fact you she doesn’t try and steal food from the other dogs while they are all fed together. She has responded well to new commands and in just a few days has learnt to Sit, High 5 and High 10. She’s currently working on “Stay” and will stay for longer each day. Orginally Jemma was unsure about cats so tempted to chase, however after a few days of training she has gotten over that urge. She enjoys chasing her doggy foster sister who chases a ball (although she won’t retrieve the ball herself as she’s not sure what to do with it!)
Jemma is sweet, kind-natured, smart, mellow and very pretty. She will make a wonderful forever easy going friend! Jemma would love a furever home with an active couple or family with older children that can play with her and taker her walking.
If you would like to meet Jemma, please contact Lee on 0466 544 756 or email leeerlin@mac.com. She is in foster care near Kulnura, NSW (Central Coast), however meet and greets can be arranged in Gosford/Somersby area.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
