About Rocket
Hi, I'm Rocket!
Don't let my name fool you, I'm not very fast. I'm always moving though, and looking around at everything, my foster mum kept telling me to keep still for my photos. The only time I do keep still is if you give me a belly rub (man, I love a good belly rub), or if you let me cuddle up in your lap.
I may look a bit rough around the edges but don't let that worry you, I'm a sweet little boy and I love to cuddle. My foster mum thinks I've been a street dog for a long time and that I haven't had the best start to life, but you're never too old to learn.
I currently live with two foster siblings, a cat and a dog. I was very excited to meet my new doggy foster sister and upon meeting the cat walked up and licked him on the nose.
I sleep in my crate all night and don't make any noise till you let me out to go to the toilet.
Due to my age, I've started to develop some arthritis in my left hip. It doesn't bother me when I move around, I just look a little stiff. I also can't go up or down stairs or jump up onto the lounge or bed. I don't see this as a problem though as I will happily sit at your feet till you pick me up.
I love to be around people, all the time. If you're there I will be there. I don't need to engage with you, I'm happy just to sit at your feet. I don't fret when you leave, I'll just patiently wait for you to come back.
MY IDEAL HOME: I'd totally love to live with another little dog, one who isn't rough with me and will just hang out. A person, couple or family with high-school aged children who is home a lot would be nice, so I have time for cuddles.
I don't need a big yard, or a lot of space. I can't run around so a little courtyard or apartment would be fine. You'll be happy to know I don't make any noise, I don't like to join in barking or howling, I just like to see what's happening.
A home without stairs is a must, as even going down stairs I have to be supervised. I guess if I can't get to the stairs that would be fine too.
I am an old man, so I can sometimes be a little cranky. I need someone to understand that I can be possessive over my toys if you approach me quickly.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: One small walk a day would suit me, or if you have some water for me to play in, even better!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Due to my size and life as a street dog I won't be a good fit for a family with young children. I startle easy, and need to be given my own space.
I will be fine to live with teenagers, but they have to understand that I am a slow old man.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Love 'em! Cats are pretty great - I might try to lick their faces though, so if they're easyoing, ever better - and if you have a resident dog, they'll need to be the same size as me, and not too boisterous, as I can't really play. A doggy friend who is nice and quiet who will cuddle me is perfect.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
