Caesar ~ Mastiff x Staffy (on trial 1/10/15)

This is Caesar, a beautiful 2 year old brindle Mastiff x Staffy boy. Despite his young age, this big boy has a lovely calm disposition and he is very well behaved. He is a true gentle giant who loves attention and thrives in the company and affection of his people. He loves nothing more than a good walk and a snuggle!

Caesar is a bit shy and reserved at first, but once warmed up, the licks and cuddles won't end. He is in foster care with two other dogs, a large dog and a small dog, and he is friendly with both. Same with our two cats, he would love to make friends with them, too, but unfortunately the cats don't want to return his affection, so we are keeping them apart.

We have four children aged between 5 and 12 and he is very good with all of them. They compete in feeding him, giving him treats, playing with him, and he sleeps in our son's room. Basically they all love him to bits! We think Caesar would be a fantastic family dog but because of his size and strength we wouldn't recommend him for a family with small children as he can knock them over.

Caesar would benefit of a company of another medium to large sized dog but will not tolerate aggressive behaviour. Caesar has not shown any signs of aggression towards anyone, but when attacked he will retaliate and a small aggressor may end up getting hurt because of his large size.

Caesar is house trained, has had some basic training and walks quite well in the lead, although when excited, he will pull. So some more training is needed but being an intelligent boy who just wants to please, his training would not be hard.

In his new home, Caesar will need secure fencing. In our house, he has not tried to escape the yard, but with another carer he was jumping the lower fences to go and explore, so a secure minimum 6 ft fencing is required.

Caesar has lots of energy and loves his walks and play, and he does need stimulation and activities to keep him happy. Once that need is fulfilled, he is more than happy to just laze about outside or have a snooze on the couch or wherever he can be with his family.

The ideal home for Caesar would be with an active person or family that includes him in their daily lives. Caesar does not like to be left alone, so there should be someone home most of the time, or another larger dog to keep him company. He needs to be allowed family time indoors, and to sleep inside.

With his absolutely beautiful temperament, loyalty and good looks, Caesar wins over
anyone he meets!
