Coco ~ Border Collie X (On Trial 4/4/15)

Coco is a 15month old Border Collie X and is still very much a beautiful and energetic pup! She absolutely loves attention, from anyone or anything and will befriend anyone if they'll give her so much as a pat on the head. She loves the water and will follow you into whatever lake, pool, ocean you’re in with not a care in the world.

She sits and waits for her food, right up until the moment you say she can start eating. Coco has been trained to only go to the toilet on the grass (not your concrete etc), although she may need to learn where those boundaries are with her new family too. Coco has been around a few children but definitely needs further direction in regards to positive methods of seeking attention, as on occasion she will still push herself into you (if only to be closer to you! for that oh-so-loved head petting).

Coco has very much become an inside dog and will have no qualms curling up at your feet all day/night, often not moving until you do! Inside time is very important for Coco and is a time where she can bond with her new family and begin to understand that she is safe and loved within this new environment. While she loves the indoors she is also happy playing outside for parts of the day, with her fun personality and wealth of energy she loves running around outside!

Coco has had a foster brother and sister for quite a while now and very much loves chasing other dogs around. Coco has shown that she can be very ball/task orientated (which is excellent!) however she gets easily distracted when her foster pals are also running around in the same area. This is quite normal for a puppy and with continued work and positive reinforcement her skills in this will develop. Coco is a very loyal dog and wants nothing but to follow you, please you and gain your love; she absolutely loves being obedient (as long as she understands what you're asking of her) and her excitement is evident whenever she successfully completes a new trick/command.

She has proven to be quite intuitive in the way she plays with other dogs, always cautious and only ever being rough if the other dog plays in the same fashion! Coco is completely house trained (and will even sit just outside the edge of your kitchen boundary once she knows where it is), and has now ceased all destructive puppy-type chewing inside the house. But boy does this dog love her outside toys!! Anything hard or chewy that presents a challenge is fair game. In the 4months at her foster house, Coco went through 12 different hard-type chew toys, but has eased up a little recently. As much as Coco would love having another dog to play with, she could also suit a home where someone is home a lot and can spend some time building on her 1-on-1 strengths.

Coco still pulls a little whilst walking on her lead, but settles down after she works out your speed and rhythm. She is still developing this skill and will benefit from ongoing efforts.

She has shown that she understands: Sit, Stay, Drop, Stand, Heel, Up, Down, Go to bed, Toilet (before bed etc), Eat, Drink, Jump, No and her foster carer's personal favourite.. OUT! (of: the food, the sock drawer, the kitchen, the toilet, the doorway, your face etc).

Having worked very hard to become a well behaved dog, Coco is now ready and waiting to meet her furever family and start the next chapter of her exciting life. If you feel you have what it takes to give this lovely girl a great forever home please contact her foster carer.
