My name is Gerry and the family who are fostering me think I'm good enough to be a keeper, but they really can't have another dog. Maybe you'd like to adopt me instead!

My last family got tired of looking after me and said they were going to put me to sleep. Luckily a lady from Chihuahua Rescue turned up and came and took me in so that I didn't have to go to the vet that day. She took me to the vet anyway for a health check, and after they gave me high fives and lots of cuddles, they took out all my rotten teeth and made me feel pretty miserable for the next few days.

Luckily my foster family give me lots of cuddles and I felt better before long. There's another pomeranian at my foster home and he's a little ratbag but I am very patient with him. We love to play in the garden, but my favourite thing in the world is being cuddled.

My foster mum says my coat is the softest thing she's ever touched, and I encourage regular pats and appreciation.

There's small humans in my home as well as another dog, and I don't mind them either.

The first step in adopting a dog from Chihuahua Rescue Queensland is to fill out an expression of interest form. We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.

Our adoption process involves:

1) Completing online application form

2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog

3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers

4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.

We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.

We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Moorooka vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
