Alfie (aka Alfonze) - New Zealand Huntaway

Want an exercise partner? Are you an active family? Then I'm the guy for you!

I'm a 4 yo,New Zealand Huntaway (Kiwi version of an Australian Kelpie),and am typical of of my working breed. I'm highly intelligent, energetic, and eager to please.

I would ideally want a confident owner who is active and fun. I do best when challenged with commands, I like to fetch balls (what working dog doesnt?), and revel in the praise I'm given for being such a clever boy. I sit, stay, and lots of other stuff.....just ask me, I'll show you how smart I am.

Agility training would be something else I'd thrive on and excel at.

I am very sociable and enjoy playing with other dogs-the dog park is great, especially the new people...I love people. I love kids too....especially when they throw balls for me.

I'm currently living with 2 big dogs in care.. One old man! (6 years old) he is OK-but I prefer to play with the girl dog who is big and goofy and almost 1.

I'd probably be happiest in a home with another dog for company, but would be just as happy as an only dog, providing I got the time and stimulation I crave.

I am house-trained & I let you know if I need to go outside for some private doggy business!

I love car rides..... I'm looking forward to the next adventure.

I am very polite with food and sit and wait for the command to eat my food.

I also have great recall, which is handy given I like to run & play. I still need some lead training....but my foster family & I are working on that each day.

In new situations, I like to take a few minutes to take in my environment & those in it, but after that I'm ready to roll.

There is someone special just waiting for a dog like me!

P.S. I am not a barker-but i will definitely talk to you! I look forward to my people coming home and will greet them with a yodel and a chat!
