About Patch ~ Staffy x Cattle Dog
Patch is a charming 1 year old Staffy x Cattle Dog. Patch loves snuggle time with his family and his favourite thing is a tummy rub - if you rub his tummy he will be your friend forever!
Patch has a fondness for playing in water so he enjoys a paddling pool. If you live by a lake or the beach he would be in heaven joining you for outings so he can play in the water. He also enjoys chasing the stream of water from the hose - it's his way of helping you with your gardening.
Being a young boy Patch is energetic and bubbly - he would thrive best in a home with an active outdoorsy family who will walk and play with him every day. If you are a runner he would love to join you for a run and then spend the day lazing around and recharging his batteries. Being a staffy x cattle dog he is a mixture of two very smart breeds so he is clever and enjoys mental stimulation with games and activities. As with many young dogs he's not suited to being left alone in the yard all day. He is very people focused and enjoys being both inside and outside being included as part of the family. He is house-trained when inside and would love a family where he is welcome to sleep inside.
Patch will be fine in a family with another dog as a playmate. He prefers playful friendly dogs who will put up with his puppy energy and not misread his signals when he's bounding around asking them to play. A female dog will probably be the best match for him. Patch shows too much interest in pocket pets and cats so he will need to go to a home without them.
Patch is friendly with children and will play well with them. With his age and eagerness he may accidentally knock over toddlers so he is best suited to kids older than 8 or confident children who are used to playful dogs.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
