About Dougall ~ Boxer x puppy (On Trial 4/4/15)
This gorgeous, smart boy dressed for dinner is Dougall. He is a 15 week old Boxer x. He is an intelligent dog, who watches everything. He reads body language very well. He is very responsive to training and has had daily training sessions with his foster carer since he was 11 weeks. He sits really well, is learning to stay and wait at doorways to allow his human to walk through first. He is also learning to wait for his dinner. He comes when he is called unless his nose has other ideas! He has responded well to house training, he still needs paper indoors but will ask to go out.
His boxer characteristics make him a happy dog who believes everything is fun. He can be stubborn and his intelligence means that he can spot any chinks in his humans resolve very quickly. He responds to clear instructions and positive training. He doesn't like angry voices. It is imperative that Dougall's furever family continue with reward based training. He is a beautiful dog with the capacity to be an amazing, loyal addition to the family. But like any dog, he needs training, playtime, and exercise else he could show destructive behaviours.
Dougall had a tough start and has been on his own since he was 7 weeks old. He has met other dogs and loves them. He loves to romp and wrestle and would love a brother or sister willing to play with him. He lives with a cat, who but despite Dougall's invitation to play, the cat refuses to have anything to do with him.
Dougall is in a foster home with two children (11 & 12). Initially he saw them as siblings to play rough with but has learnt to be gentler. He may not suit young children. As a pup he has a sensitive stomach, he may grow out of this but it may also be part of his boxer breeding. He needs quality food without extra titbits.
Dougall is an inside dog who needs to be part of a family and must sleep indoors. He is a beautiful dog, loving and loyal, full of fun but at the same time obedient and settled. And as we discovered at his photo session, a complete poser! Dougall deserves a great family, who will train him, play with him, include him, be loyal to him and love him as unconditionally as he will love them.
As Dougall is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Dougall, please contact his foster carer Paula on 0417 210 930 or email peebilly@cia.com.au. Dougall is in foster care in Jesmond, NSW (Newcastle).
Dougall's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.
