About Dexter ~ kelpie x, 8 months (On Trial paid 2/5/15)
Meet snuggle bug Dexter, a 8 month old Kelpie x. This sweet boy just really wants to be loved. He is happy to be your constant companion and will do whatever you ask just for a pat – a food reward is an unexpected bonus!
Despite having a sad start to life where nobody cared for him or showed him any affection or training, Dexter is one resilient guy! He really wants to learn how to please you and will respond very quickly to praise and positive reinforcement. Dexter would love his new family to continue his training with him as he is really good at it and would love to know how to make you happy – besides giving you endless kisses and cuddles!
Dexter is completely house trained so having inside time and sleeping inside will not be an issue.
Dexter is currently in care with an older puppy and 2 younger puppies. While I am at work, Dexter enjoys playing in the backyard with his foster brother and sister, his favourite games to join in on are chasies, tug-o-war and bird spotting! At dinner time he is showing good manners by sitting before being told he can eat – something he had no idea he could do a week ago! See he is such a quick learner!
Dexter is learning not to jump up and is beginning to automatically sit for a pat when you greet him – although being a puppy he doesn’t always have impulse control so would need to be supervised around small children so he doesn’t accidently knock them over.
Dexter would love to be adopted by an active family or young person who has time to spend bonding with him through outdoor activities and training– something he deserves after being left to bring himself up for the last 7 months.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
