An Interview with Colin, 2yo border collie x. A handsome bachelor looking for his forever home.

QUESTION: What has been the biggest influence in your life?
ANSWER: Love. Having experienced love I am hooked. Yes, I know, a soppy thing to say but I'm very loyal. I'm not a wanderer, more the old faithful type.

Q: What’s your favorite place in the entire world?
A: To snuggle up with on the lounge when the sun goes down. Having discovered living inside I have adapted really well and am well versed in doggy door usage.

Q: Who is your best friend? What do you like about him/her?
A: My foster sister Jedha, and Harley too I suppose. I prefer to keep my foster mum to myself and Harley is such a sook about sharing her, I sometimes get annoyed. But female dogs are best, they are great to play with.

Q: What makes you excited?
A: Birds, darnit. I watch those guys flying over head and I just can't stop myself from chasing them. I hit the fence line and jump really high, but no luck. I don't understand why, I jump higher than the fence but still can't reach them. I am sure they are sent to tease me, though I don't understand why. I have a large yard that I share with two labs. I like to look through the fence and watch the world going by and am happy to stay there. I'm not interested in trying to jump the fence to get out.

Q: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
A: "Marley and Me" is my all time fav. Just a dog and his family. Families are fun, I am gentle and considerate with all size people. Big ones and little ones, happy to take cuddles, pats, attention, food from them all. No discrimination from me.

Q: What’s your biggest goal in life right now?
A: All I really want is a home of my own. Foster care is great but I want to settle down with a family that will love me forever. I would really love to go to a home where I can get a nice walk or even a run every day. A good size yard would be great too.

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
A: A run in the park or beach is up there but so is lazing in the sun chewing on a large bone. No day is complete without coming inside to spend some quality time snuggling with my people. I like to sleep inside and I use the doggie door to go out when needed.

Q: Do you have any pet peeves?
A: Those darn birds and maybe storms. Storms make me a little scared, but I just hide away, no fuss like, maybe under a low bed you would have thought I would never fit.

Q: What was your family like growing up?
A: Well, that's a hard one. I am looking towards my future, but they say a foster dog never forgets the hard times. My foster family now, that's what I will focus on, not the struggles beforehand and my new forever family, when they come to adopt me.

Q: What is your greatest achievement?
A: I have completed a "Good Dog Manners" training course with Dog Training Newcastle. I learned how to "sit", "stand", "drop", "wait", come when called, and walk nicely on a lead. Dog Training Newcastle is happy to give my new family one free private lesson to show them how to give me instructions. I have also had agility training. Running and jumping is my forte. Who would have thought, a rescue with a certificate to their name.

Q: That's great Colin. What is your adoption fee?
A: My adoption fee is only $400 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. I hope you'll come visit me real soon!
