About Bandit
Dear new family
My brother and I came to SA all the way from Goulburn, we were a desperate giveaway as our mum was ill and not coping. Sadly she had us chained up most days as she was too unwell to look after us. Anyway this nice lady from Farmdogz Rescue worked with a lot of other people to raise money to bring us to Adelaide to start our new life.
I must say I really like not having to be kept on a chain, I am a good boy and I sleep in a crate all night and don't mess inside. BUT of course if you are my new family and you want me to sleep inside, I'm pretty sure I could make an exception.
I know, how to “sit” and do a recalls in my back yard, I haven't been off lead away from the house yet. I love to run and learn new tricks, the cool thing is my foster carer has taken me to obedience and I am being taught new things everyday. I am learning “heel”, “drop”, and “stay”. She tells me that I need to give her space, but heck I love all the activities we do together that I think we should do them all the time so I just sort of hang out, sit really close, lean on her all in the hope that I will get a pat and maybe learn my next new job.
Gosh I love the car, and will jump in on command, but apparently I am a little too eager and have to learn to wait before jumping out. I do wait at the door but have to be honest, you need to remind me regularly not to barge through.
I like to chase and play with a ball and will bring it back, but well, maybe I might not want to want to let it go. I was not too sure about walking on a lead, it reminded me of being chained up, but my foster carer thinks I have started to walk nicely but she gives me regular reminders to stay calm and not to pull too much.
If I could talk to you I would be saying “I really want a family to love me and let me into their lives so we could all go and play”
A note from my foster mum - As Bandit is still young and discovering how to be a dog, he does need to be reminded to be polite and is still learning about personal space. He has met sheep and was respectful showing a hidden natural interest which certainly could be further trained he has no inclination to escape from the yard. He would be better suited to an active family with older children and could make a good agility and/or obedience dog as he’ll be easy to train with enough drive to do well but not too excitable to be a difficult dog.
