About Alfie
Since coming into foster care, Alfie has really begun to experience and enjoy what it means to be a playful and happy dog! Although a little bit shy at first, with every new situation he's experienced he's tackled it head on (sometimes looking to his foster sister, another German Shorthaired Pointer, for guidance!) and loved every minute of it.
Alfie is a really affiliative and intelligent puppy–he loves to be around people and other dogs. He's very inquisitive and does not hesitate to explore the house and anything that catches his interest, although the first thing he'll seek out is human company.
He's happiest with a comfy bed to curl up on near the TV so he can be with the family, but he happily settles in his crate every night (and saves his most enthusiastic tail wag for greeting good morning).
MY IDEAL HOME: Alfie is a very happy and social puppy, so would be good suited in a home where he's got someone to play with (he'd love to have another dog to rumble with, or some kids to throw his favourite toy). He's still learning how to be a well-behaved adult dog - he has progressed well in the last two weeks with basic obedience and toilet training, but still has a way to go - so he would love to settle down with a family who are happy to help him out with this and show him how it's done.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Alfie has the really typical Pointer run (crazy and full speed!) and will be a pretty energetic dog who will need at least 1-2 good walks a day, and would benefit from off-leash and dog play time to really tire him out. Once he's all tuckered out he'll happily chill on his bed and sleep the day away, as long as he's had a good run!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Alfie loves children, he loves to go up and give them a sniff and a lick, although he needs a bit of help to be shown that jumping on them isn't the best way to great them. He would go really well in a home with children, as he is very affectionate and loyal.
MY SUITABILITY TO DOGS AND CATS: Alfie really likes dogs of all shapes and sizes. Although he's a bit wary of new dogs (especially big ones) at first, he very quickly warms up to them and loves to play. His favourite game is chase, but he also loves a good game of tug or bite-face with his foster sister.
He's had a few successful interactions with kittens, and could be easily trained into a cat household given his age – although this should be with supervision and preferably by someone with experience.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
