About Ruffy the Rottweiler ~ On Trial 13/3/15
Ruffy is a 12 month old male pure bred Rottweiler. He is a young, healthy, handsome boy with a sweet temperament and a love of people and other furry friends. He is a well mannered and playful young man. This boy has a heart of gold, is super sweet boy and just adores people.
While in care Ruffy has come a long way in his training, now being able to sit, shake and even wait for his dinner. He is not a big barker but will let you know when strangers are approaching. Ruffy is fully house trained.
He loves his daily walk and trips to the beach and he is learning to walk nicely on lead. At the moment he can pull quite hard but with ongoing training he will master this skill in no time. He has not been exposed to cats so we are unsure of how he would react. If you have other small animals we always recommend a slow and supervised introduction.
Ruffy is currently an inside-outside dog and at present enjoys sleeping outside on a warm bed with his foster brother. He does behave wonderfully inside and would sleep well inside if his new family would make him welcome. Ruffy would love to go to a family with another dog if possible, but would cope on his own with a family who can give him a lot of attention and one on one time.
Ruffy can be a little nervous when first meeting new dogs, but warms up quickly and just wants to be friends. He is currently in a home with another dog and he loves to play and wrestle with him all day but also enjoys naps and knows when it's time to be calm.
Ruffy has not shown any interest in jumping fences. Despite his size, he is still very young and has been known to dig a hole or two out of boredom, so he needs to be kept entertained be it with personal attention or interactive toys. He is a smart boy and needs to be stimulated physically and mentally as much and as often as possible. Problem solving games such as treat dispensing toys or frozen Kong’s will keep him from getting in to trouble.
He is a lovely boy and very gentle however he is big and doesn't know his own weight or strength. For this reason a home with no very small children would be best. He would thrive in a home with someone who is very committed to his continued training to keep him in check.
Ruffy Is a fantastic boy who gets compliments every where he goes. He deserves a wonderful home where he will be loved and cared for throughout the rest of his life. If you think you can provide the perfect home for this sweet heart then I look forward to hearing from you.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
