About Bella ~ Beautiful Wolfie ~ On Trial 6/4/15
My name is Bella and I'm a 7 year old Wolfhound cross. Many people think us wolfies are all large in size but I’m only medium height (about the height of a border collie) so I’m like a snack size wolfie!
I was saved from euthanasia in a Sydney Pound when I was heavily pregnant at Christmas time. My wonderful rescuers helped me give birth to my puppies and over the last 2 months we have raised my gorgeous puppies together. I’ve had a few litters before being rescued so my old life wasn’t much fun. My healthy puppies are now with other foster families and are currently being rehomed to loving furever homes. So it’s now my turn to look for a special loving family all of my very own!!
I’m very sociable and I love to have people around me - I’m affectionate as I’m making up for lost time. Because I’ve only recently been separated from my puppies I was initially very confused and it took me a little while to settle – I have not had an easy life up until now so I would love a family who will love me, shower me with attention and make me feel safe. Given the choice, I would sit with my head on your lap all day long. I look at you lovingly with my big brown eyes whilst you scratch my ears and head.
I can be a little dominant with other dogs, but my foster mum says it’s because I’m still a little hormonal and confused after being separated from my puppies, therefore I would appreciate a home where my new family is firm with me and can continue with positive socialisation with other dogs. My foster mum says I’m a big sook, and I like to know that she is nearby. I love people of all ages and will lap up attention from anyone. Within 5 minutes I’ll be your best friend. I will bark if someone comes to the door, but then I’m all over them with a wagging tail and smiles as soon as they pat me.
I’m in foster care with 2 kids aged 6 and 8 year old and I love them. I’m gentle with them and I don’t jump up or knock them over. I’m not a huge fan of being left alone for hours so I would love a family who has someone home a bit so that I have company nearby. \ I’m OK with other dogs once I’ve met them, so I would also enjoy the company of another dog, preferably an older sensible male dog who isn’t too boisterous.
I am toilet trained and will go outside. Before I came into foster care I must have been an outside only dog as I’m still learning to stay off the sofas and carpeted areas inside – my foster mum says I’m adaptable and am quick to learn the rules of a new house. I am in foster care with rabbits, and I’m very interested in their cage so I’m best suited to a home without pocket pets.
I love going for walks – I can pull on the lead at the start of a walk. Walking on a lead is all new to me so I just need time and patience from a family who will continue my lead training. I love to go to the beach and I have learned that playing in the surf is fun, I still need to build up my confidence a bit to jump in and swim, but I’m getting better already
I love car rides. I will happily join you in the car for trips. I can be a little excited at the start, however I quickly settle down and will stare at the scenery going past the window with a big smile on my face, with my tongue hanging out catching the breeze.
If you would like to meet me, please contact Jo on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com (preferred) or 0427 695 104 (outside business hours). I am in foster care near Gosford, NSW (Central Coast) and I am not available for adoption interstate.
My adoption fee is $300 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, micro-chipping and registration. You can see all our available dogs atwww.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
