About Kahlo ~ Staffy x, male, 9 mths (On Trial 28/3/15)
Kahlo – A floppy, cuddly, uncoordinated ball of love. Kahlo is an approximately 9 month old Staffy pup. He is a giant big teddy bear who loves to play. He still has some growing to do but is a gentle, loving boy. He gets along well with other dogs and also cats. The markings on his face are like they’ve been painted on; he is really quite unique looking and often gets stopped on the street. He has proven to be a bit of a lady’s man so far.
Kahlo likes to hoard toys and hide them away. He also loves to play and is generally quite an agreeable dude. He also has a slight shoe fetish so if you can’t find your shoes they are usually hoarded behind the lounge, no bite marks but safely tucked away where he can look after them.
He loves to be with people and follows you into whatever room you are in. At other times he can be quite independent and will play by himself. He goes to bed well. He will sleep outside, but he prefers to sleep on a dog bed next to you, or, if you're very kind, cuddled up close in your arms with his head on your pillow.
Kahlo LOVES a cuddle. \ He will flop himself into your arms like a giant baby and snore his head off. \ The next second he is up playing with his foster sisters and brothers. Then he’s asleep again. He is quite active and will need a walk every day as well as a decent sized yard and good fences. Kahlo doesn’t know how to apply the brakes so he pretty much just runs around when he’s playing until he hits a wall – literally. Hopefully coordination will come with a bit more age.
He is a people pleaser. You just need to tell him what you want him to do and he gets the idea. One area he still needs work is toilet training. He has definitely improved over a very short period of time so he won’t require too much more direction. He does still need to be watched and let out regularly.
As he is a pup, he can get bored and a bit destructive so we fill his large Kong toy with peanut butter or meat or treats and that generally keeps him quite busy. He loves his Kong and he loves his squeaky balls. Honestly, he is a pretty awesome little guy. He needs a fun and active home with attentive and loving owner/s.
Please contact Kate with any questions on kateja6182@hotmail.com or 0401 218 211. Kahlo is located in Mayfield, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Kahlo's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
