About Vader (On Trial 28/3/15)~ Labrador, 10 mnths
Meet Vader! A handsome and super-sweet 10 month old black Labrador mix who loves attention and belly rubs, especially from children. He is an energetic boy who wants to run and play with people and other dogs.
Vader has been housetrained utilising a doggy door and understands basic commands such as sit and lay down. He walks very well on a leash with a martingale collar or harness. He is still learning his name, and to come when called, so he needs to be kept on lead when not in a fenced yard.
Vader currently lives with 3 medium size dogs and loves them all. He has no problems playing tug-o-war with a rope toy, chasing a ball with another dog or cuddling with them on the couch. Vader has not be introduced to cats so we are unaware of his compatibility with them.
Vader has no food aggression issues and free feeds with the other dogs. He has also learned to sit and wait his turn when receiving a snack. You can pet him and even stick your hand in the food bowl and he does not mind. He enjoys chewing on rawhide bones and Dentastixs. He is currently being fed Candidae Grain Free dry food.
Vader is a bit hesitant to get into the car but when he does he enjoys lying down in the back seat. He does not bark at passing cars nor does he try to lunge out of the car when you open the door.
Vader is in great health. He is heartworm negative and currently on monthly preventative.
Vaders perfect home would be with a family who loves to go for walks and play with him, and give him lots of cuddles and welcome him inside with the family and let him sleeps inside.
For more information or to meet Vader, please contact his foster carer Shelley on 0427 730 903 (after hours). Vader is in foster care in Anna Bay, NSW (Port Stephens, north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Vader's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Vader recently had surgery to correct a prolapse on his left eye lid. His sight is normal and we don't think it will cause him any more trouble.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
