About Lottie ~ Kelpie x Lab -Senior (on trial 15/8/15)
If you are looking for a perfectly behaved dog with beautiful manners look no further than Lottie. Lottie is a gorgeous 9 year old Kelpie x Labrador who is the perfect lady. She is polite, friendly and always eager to please. She is placid and friendly and adores everyone including children of any age. Being a senior she's not jumpy or boisterous and she's very calm and gentle when meeting new people.
Lottie is a very easy dog to look after. She is very quiet and almost never barks. She loves pats and will roll onto her back for belly rubs. Her tail is always happily wagging when someone is around. She loves just lounging around with the family or to follow you around the garden. Lottie is very good with children and has been in a home with 3 children (10, 7 and 3) who smother her with love. She is unfazed by this and laps up the attention. Lottie loved the outdoors however however she loves affection and loves to come inside for a scratch and a cuddle. She also likes to sleep indoors with her family so this would need to continue in her new home.
Despite being a senior Lottie can be very active and loves to walk, explore and run. She has even been on training sprints with her foster dad. She does a very speedy 400m sprint around the local oval! Lottie walks well on her lead, coming back to walk right beside you when called and even walks well beside a pram. However she can get anxious when other dogs are around and will pull on the lead. We are working on this. Due to this she would be best suited to a home where there are no other dogs as she is unsure how to behave with them.
Lottie has basic obedience training and will sit and stay when asked and come when called. She loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and can jump quite high to reach the ball. She also loves to chew on a bone and loves all food, eating almost anything you give her!
When Lottie first came into foster care she tried to follow us whenever we left the house by trying to squeeze her way under the gate. Now she has settled in, this behaviour has eased but she will need a secure yard with no holes/gaps in the fences so she won’t escape to follow you when she is first adopted. She does not jump fences however. She would also love it if someone is home a lot as she just wants to be around people. She has adapted well to our busy lifestyle however and is now used to us coming and going.
Overall she is a gorgeous girl who we will find hard to let go. All she wants is lots of cuddles and she will be your friend forever.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
