About Jack the Shih Tzu (on trial 9/4/15)
Hi, my name is Jack and I'm a 20 month old Shih Tzu x. My foster mum says I'm a very sweet and friendly boy and one of the nicest-natured doggies she has fostered. I have lots and lots of love to give and I also love to make everyone happy with my party tricks! Yes, I can stand on my hind legs for a long time, sit on my haunches and beg. If I want a pat and I see your hand out, I have a trick of walking under it and pushing it up until that hand is patting my back, tee hee!
I love people and having cuddles and snuggling up next to you. It's a joy for me to be my human's lap dog. I even love to go for drives with my humans and love going for walks and playing in the park with my foster brothers.
My pretty coat doesn't shed so I need regular brushing, bathing, and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep me comfortable and handsome.
I sleep and spend a bit of time inside, but also enjoy playing outside. I love playing with my ball and squeaky toys and can play with them for hours sometimes. It's great fun! I have doggy friends and we get along great. I haven't had a chance to meet any cats yet. I have met 2 children and they were only 3 & 4 years old, but I was very gentle with them.
I've never been interested in fence jumping or digging out. I love to be where I'm loved and am included as part of the family, so just want to stay and give you my love.
At the moment, my foster mum is house training me and I'm learning to use a doggy door. Because it's all new to me, sometimes I'm good, other times, not so much, but I'm trying really hard because I want to please my humans.
Did I mention I do party tricks?

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
