About Kovu ~ Border Collie- trial 7/3/15
Kovu is a beautiful 3year old pure bred Border Collie. He has loads of energy and love to give and is currently on the hunt for his perfect forever home.
In spite his past where he was not shown a lot of love or care, Kovu has developed into a very affectionate and sweet boy. He is such a gentle and beautiful dog, always wants human attention and always wants to play with his toys. He appreciates feeding time but with his huge heart he wants cuddles more than his food.
He is very attentive, eager to please and is good at learning commands. He can jump up from time to time but listens and hops down when asked. He has mastered the basic commands including sit, stay, down and outside. He is good on lead and has shown that he will return to his master if off lead in public areas once he knows who his family is and feels that bond.
He is currently living with a young Kelpie X and they get on very well. They play rough but it is all in good fun. He sleeps outside and is happy to be an indoor/outdoor dog as long as he gets his fair share of human attention and love.
Kovu is super gentle and has shown himself to be lovely with kids. He has not been exposed to cats so we are unable to advise on his suitability with them or other small pets. We would recommend a slow and supervised introduction if you have other smaller animals.
With so much energy and zest for life, Kovu would be best suited to a reasonably large yard where he can race around with a fur buddy. He would thrive with an active family who would like to take him for walks, to the beach, out to parks and on family adventures.
So if you’re looking for a lovable dog and are ready to shower a new fur family member with love, cuddles, kisses and attention then look no further.
For more information or to meet Kovu, please contact his foster carer Kieren on 0434 702 572. Kovu is in care in Metford, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Kovu's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
