About Russell (Special Needs)
Hi, my name is Russell and I am a small Jack Russell x Silky terrier. I am a middle aged young man of only 8 years old.
I am a very low maintenance man. I love nothing more than to lay around and sunbake. I also enjoy spending time with my foster family.
I am a very relaxed little character who currently lives with some older children in my foster home that I just happen to adore.
However when I first meet someone I tend to be on the shy side which has resulted in people passing on my adoption. I really need a family who understands that I can be quite shy to start with but I promise you I am loyal and devoted once you take the time to get to know me.
I love and adore my foster dog and cat siblings but unfortunately due to my timidness it would be best if my new adoptive family had no younger children.
If you think that I sound like the perfect fit for your family please do not hesitate to contact the lovely ladies of Chihuahua Rescue Queensland.
Love Russ xx

Medical notes
When Russell came into our care, he had ruptured cruciates and had surgery within the first week. He has healed amazingly well and is now undergoing acupuncture. His recover has been dramatic and he is doing excellent.
Unfortunately, Russell's latest blood results have revealed that he is likely to develop Cushings disease in the future. An ultrasound has shown some cysts in his spleen and kidneys, so we have now accepted that Russell is looking for a palliative care home where he will be loved and cared for in his final years.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please email chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com for an Adoption Application. From there, we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to talk further about your application and if successful, to arrange a meet and greet.
Prior to adoption, all dogs will need to have a meet and greet with their family and a house check will be done. All adoptions are subject to a four week trial to ensure your new friend fits in well with your household.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
