About Mabel *special needs dog*
Meet our very special little girl... Mabel.
This beautiful girl has suffered a life full of neglect (please see before photo). She has come such a long way in our care and is now ready to find her very special forever home.
Mabel is terrified of people. We do not know what happened in her past life however she is showing us daily that she wants to trust people again and making positive steps all the time. We still can not physically pick Mable up without the use of a lead and towel around her but we have gotten her to the point that she wants to be around people and will take food/treats from your hand. Mabel has never been aggressive in any way, she is just scared.
Now that she feels safe in her foster home, she likes to follow her foster mum around the house and now even relaxes in the lounge while her foster family watches TV. She likes her routine as it helps her feel safe.
She really LOVES her foster doggie siblings and will need to go to a new home with another friendly dog to help her feel safe. She has been great with every dog and cat she has met!
Mabel loves being outdoors and sleeping in the sunny spots, she also loves doing zoomies around the yard at full speed!!
Even though she is showing improvement, Mabel has come from a life of terrible neglect so is still very untrusting and needs time and patience to earn the trust of humans. Mabel will need to go to an extremely patient and understanding home that will give her the space she needs. Her new owners will need to understand that Mabel may never be the type dog that you can have on your lap but she will show affection in her own special way.
Mable is best rehomed without young children and into a calm home where she can feel safe in. She is crate trained also which will help with the transition into her new environment.
Mabel comes desexed, vaccinated and microchiped and is in foster care in the Reservoir area. If you would like to meet Mabel, please follow the link and email us some info about the home you can offer her.
