About Ellie ~ bc x kelpie cattle (trial pending 14/7/15)
Beautiful Ellie is a 11 month old, female, Border Collie X Kelpie X Cattle Dog who’s playful puppy nature and cheeky attitude is hard not to fall in love with. Her loving, affectionate and kind hearted nature makes her the perfect playmate for any companion. Ellie is very playful and will utilise any opportunity for a cuddle or pat. This precious girl is more than happy laying on your lap watching tv with you, having a running around the yard with the kids or going for a walk.
Ellie loves spending time with you and would be best suited to a home where she can spend a lot of time with you inside and a home that has another pet to keep her company when you are not home.
She is use to being outside and there would be no issues with her spending some time outside and can sleep in a separate room of the house or outside (in a kennel or enclosed area depending on yard check) but she would be best in these situations with another playmate to keep her company.
Ellie loves a good rowdy, puppy play and this will entertain her all day until she’s ready for a rest. If there are other dogs at home then they will need to be willing to have a play as Ellie still has some playful, puppy years to go! In saying this, her foster brother and sisters are Chihuahua and a mini foxy and because they are up for a play she is very good with them! She is fantastic with cats- extremely gentle, showing no signs of aggression and she knows when enough is enough. She would also be ok as an only dog as long as she has plenty of attention and exercise.
She has also spent time with people of all ages and would be perfectly suited to a family of any age or size.
Because of her breed and personality she would love the opportunity to be regularly exercised and would love a daily walk or run or on a regular basis!
Ellie had little training before joining our dog rescue family but she is an extremely intelligent student! Her age makes her the perfect candidate for continuous learning and she responds well to food rewards and praise! She has already learnt to sit, stay and come, she is completely toilet trained and shows no signs of food aggression or aggression in general.
At the moment Ellie is in her puppy chewing phase so she will need lots of toys and stimulants to keep her occupied.
Ellie does tend to jump up for a head scratch. Even in doing so she is extremely gentle but spending some time to teach her not to do this would be needed and she would LOVE it as she loves using the time to spend time with you and is very eager to learn. I hope that Ellie will find an owner who can consistently train her to be the best dog she can be.
Ellie is great with children, being extremely gentle, and with some guidance knows when enough is enough. Because she is a puppy she will need some training to not jump up as she is very tall.
She is a beautiful, loyal and loving girl and is desperate for someone to put in the time she deserves. Gorgeous Ellie would make the perfect pet for any family who is willing to put the time and effort in to make her the best possible dog she can and the happiness it brings her and your family will make the time spent worth every second!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
