About Teddy Boy (Trial 28/2/15)~ Maltese x Schnauzer
Here’s the most recent love of my life, Teddy Boy, professional cutie and natural-born charmer. He's a Maltese x Silky x a dash of Schnauzer. He's only a youngster, at only 18 months of age, and he’s looking for someone to love him and make him a part of their life.
As his foster-carer I’m entrusted with a secret that I can share with you now. In Tedster's photos he is underdressed! You see, Teddy Boy actually has long, non-shedding hair that gets matted if not regularly groomed. So if you suspect that you can’t deal with bathing a dog every few weeks and taking him to the groomer every 4 to 8 weeks, or being the groomer yourself, then Teddy is not the boy for you. When he came to us, Teddy Boy was very matted and neglected. His hair was so long we couldn’t see his eyes, and our groomer had to shave his coat right back to dispense with the knots that were causing him pain by pulling on his skin. He’s a very loveable and cheeky little package, and dealing with his coat is only a small matter when you realise what a wonderful addition he can be to your family.
Teddy gets on well with other dogs -- he loves to play, wrestle and chase his doggie mates. Sometimes the bigger dogs are inclined to consider him a bit of a football, someone to bowl over chase around, but Teddy is a good sport and joins in the spirit of the game, quite able to stand up for himself if they get out of line.
We are teaching him basic commands and how to walk on lead.
Teddy loves to be a lap dog, to have cuddles, and to curl into you when you go to sleep at night. He is an indoor dog. He will sit outside for a while during the day, but must be indoors with you when you are home. He would suit a home with an retired person or couple, or a family with children.
If you would like to know more about him, or to meet him, please contact his foster carer Lynda, Monday to Wednesday after 7pm on 02 4987 1213, or any time other days. Alternatively, send a text to 0401 264 514.
Teddy is in foster care near Raymond Terrace, NSW (Port Stephens, north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Teddy Boy's adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
