Charlie (On Trial 6/3/15) ~ female Jrt, 4yo

Charlie is a FEMALE Jack Russell Terrier, 4 ½ years old. She is a real sweetheart and has earned the nickname “Princess Charlie”. She’s a gorgeous girl who loves nothing more than a lap to snuggle on.

Charlie is the perfect dog if you have kids. I have a six year old son that just adores her (yes, it will be hard to let Charlie go, she has really grown on us!). She loves being inside the home and being part of the family.

Charlie does have a couple of quirky habits! Sometimes we think she thinks she’s a cat! She loves walking along the back of the couch and climbing up on the pillows on our bed to get a good view of the birds in the tree outside.

She would benefit from some basic and ongoing training (she will sit for ham- and that’s about it). \ Please also be very careful when you open the front door. On two occasions she darted out the front door (warning: she’s fast!) and ran down the street. \ She has no road sense and took quite a bit of coaxing to come back. We have started to teach her to “stay” when we open the door, however, still be cautious. It would be best if you have a fence in your front yard or outside your front door or even a baby gate inside the front door to prevent accidents, especially if you have children or visitors who may be less then careful.

Charlie would no doubt love to be in a home where someone is home quite a lot. However, she quickly adapted to our busy routine of coming and going from the house and has learnt to use our doggy door and will sit in her basket in the lounge room listening to the radio when we are out of the house (and loves looking through the window at the birds outside!). She is an inside dog and needs to be allowed to come and be with her people and to sleep inside. When no one is home, ideally she'll be allowed access to inside (even if it's just a tiled area such as a laundry) via an open door or doggie door.

I don’t feel Charlie would suit a home with a cat as she would probably chase it. If you already have a dog, she may take a day or two to get used to sharing her space with another dog (remember, she’s a Princess and can be a bit bossy initially towards other dogs but does adapt).

She would also suit someone who is quite active. \ Charlie loves a good run and did the Lake Mac Parkrun with me. Her PB is 33 minutes!

Overall she is a gorgeous girl who has already stolen a piece of my heart!
