About Joel
Beautiful young Joel is a stunning looking little puppy with beautiful markings looking for his forever home.
He is 5 months old Mastiff X (maybe Grey hound) so will grow up to be a large dog.
Since coming into foster care about a month ago he has learned to wee outside and hold it overnight. He is crate trained & will willingly go into his crate at night and sleep quietly til morning. He is also use to staying outside in the yard while his foster family is at work and school about 8 hours per day.
Like all puppies give him a bone or toy and it will keep himself amused for hours.
Joel has learned to “sit” and “drop”, he know what “no” and “ah arr” means and he is learning to walk on a lead and sit and stay before eating his food. He is very motivated by treats and picks up new skills within a few days.
He loves playing with his brother Benji and although he lives with a cat that he’s not at all interested in it - the cat taught him early on with a few quick swipes that he doesn’t like playing with puppies!
Joel will run to the door to greet you and is happy to follow you around in the house just checking out what you might be doing, he needs firm guidelines and rules as he likes to nestle on the couch when he thinks no one is looking, he just wants so badly to be a lap dog and craves human cuddles!! I’m sure he thinks a dog bed on the floor is just for dogs but not him!
He would be best suited to someone who is around a lot or could take him to work with them and/or include him in everyday activities, While in foster care he has been to work quite a few times and after saying morning to all the staff with a excited tail wag and kiss, he lays on his bed in the office and sleeps all day.
He is a cool little puppy with a rebellious side but as he is young and has had no rules until now will soon learn the ropes and will be a wonderful addition to his forever home.
Joel is currently in care in Warranwood. If you would like to adopt him please visit www.startingoverdogrescue.org.au and fill in an adoption form.
