About Royce ~ On Trial 1/5/15
Hi my name is Royce – it’s short for Rolls Royce – like the cool classic car. I’m an 8 month young Mastiff X boy with an endearing personality. I am very social with other dogs – they are my favourite thing ever! If you want a best friend to take to dog parks then I’m your guy as I’m friendly with dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. I’m a seriously cool dude and I’m also incredibly handsome (and modest!)
I live with my foster parents and 2 kids whom I adore – they are 10 and 13 years old. I also live with two little fluffy dogs who think I’m a big friendly boofa and two cats. I have learned very quickly to have manners around the cats or I end up with a scratched nose. I have learnt that cats rule the house so as long as I remember to follow their rules we get along famously! \ I have also met other friendly cats at my foster mum’s friends’ house – we just touch noses and my tail wags like crazy.
I love the water. We have a pool and when the children play in the pool, I jump in and swim with them. I steal their pool toys when they are not looking so that I can watch them laugh. I love soft toys and will collect them on my bed to keep myself entertained. I have been known to think things that aren’t mine are mine so you might need to hide your shoes and hats from me until I grow out of the typical puppy stage of pinching stuff. I can’t help it if I have a flair for fashionable new boots!
I am getting tall now so I can now stand up and look at what you are putting on the table for dinner. My foster mum learnt the hard way not to leave the scotch fillet steak defrosting on the counter as I just couldn’t help but taste test it (it was the best scotch fillet ever!!). If you can handle my occasional pilfering, I will reward you with the most loyal companionship ever!
My foster family take me to the local dog beach and I love meeting all the other dogs. I have a favourite green ball that I like to take along. If you have my ball, I will do whatever you ask me to. I always bring it back, and will sit until you throw it again (and again!). I’m very good off leash at the beach. I’m still a puppy so I’m still learning not to pull in my excitement when I’m on leash walking the neighbourhood. I love travelling in the car. I’ll happily be your co-pilot for both long and short trips. I first watch the world go by and then I sleep like a log (as driving is exhausting work!)
I’ve still got some growing to do – I will grow to be a large size dog. I forget that I’m a big boy and still try to be a lap dog by falling asleep on your lap. I have learned the lounge isn’t for me, so I have my own bed in each living room in the house. I sleep in our indoor laundry with access to outside in case I need to go to the toilet. I am toilet trained however, and it’s been a while since I had an accident. I like to hang out inside whenever my foster family is home.

I am nervous when I meet new people, so you will need to prove yourself before I will let you pat me. If you give me a few smacko treats, I will warm up to you very fast. My perfect forever home would be one with active older children or adults who will play with me and take me on exciting outings. I would also love to have a doggy brother or sister to play with. If you have a slightly older dog then I will follow them as a good role model. I’m still too young and social to be left alone all day whilst you work. I will love plenty of affection, exercise, and training and socialisation.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
