About Lulu (On Trial 1/3/15~ tiny Maltese x, senior girl
Meet Lulu, an 8 year old, female Maltese x. Weighing in at only 3kg Little Lulu is a tiny girl - but with a big personality and a very sweet nature. Lulu loves to be fussed over and enjoys the company of people, dogs and cats.
Lulu loves going for short walks, and her behavior on the lead is improving. Lulu can be quite wary of dogs she is unfamiliar with, and she will let you know when she is uncomfortable, however her training is coming along quite well. Her foster parents can show you how to best support her and continue her training to boost her confidence and socialization. Lulu's new owners will be willing to continue on with this training and our volunteer trainers will help you.
Lulu loves to have a play with her foster siblings, and it is important that she goes to a home with another small dog of similar age. Lulu is also cat friendly, and not bothered by the 2 resident cats in her foster home. Lulu can get anxious when left home on her own with no people and no doggy friends, so always having a playmate (human or canine) nearby is essential for Lulu's happiness.
Lulu is house trained and sleeps through the night without a toilet break. Her foster parents leave her inside while they are work and she doesn't leave them any 'surprises'.
Lulu is an indoor dog, and must be allowed inside all of the time. Her perfect home will be one where she is allowed to sleep inside, close to her owners. She would suit a home where she is included in daily activities. She likes to snuggle next to her foster parents on the lounge, or relax in the sun while they are working in the garden.
Lulu has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days), regular washing (every week or two) and clipping (every 6-8 weeks) to keep her comfortable.
If you would like to meet Lulu, contact Laura by email Laura.morris168@hotmail.com. Lulu is in foster care in Charlestown NSW 2290 (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
Lulu's adoption fee is $300 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
