About Dotti ~ Tenterfield Terrier (adopted 5/4/15)
Hi, I’m Dotti, the 14-year-old Terrific Tenterfield Terrier! I have all the energy you would expect from a young dog with the good sense of a more mature lady. I absolutely love going for walks and going driving in the car. I love cuddles and am definitely a house dog. I do my business outside as any well trained lady should and despite my advancing years, aside from being a little disadvantaged in the sight department, I don’t have any obvious health problems. \
I am gentle and sweet in environments I am comfortable in and I would happily sit on your lap all day but just as happily keep you company in the garden whilst I smell all the smells and look for mice. I have a charming smile with a bottom tooth that sticks out giving me a rakish grin and it certainly doesn’t interfere with my eating!
I would love to go home with someone who loves me and is gentle with me and understands that if I do misbehave it’s because have been frightened. I know I come across as being cranky sometimes but I only act like that when I have had a fright, especially at night time when my eyesight is not so good as it is during the day. Sometimes I also act like that in different situations that I remember from my “other” life – it’s kinda an automatic response but I am trying hard to learn how to behave differently but it’s not always easy for me. If someone could take me home and set the boundaries straight away so that we both know who’s boss – me .. oh? uhh, I mean you – that would be great!
My foster parents have spent a lot of time with me letting me know that I don’t have to act all brave and make a lot of noise and act threatening when I get a fright because they won’t let anything bad happen to me and I am starting to relax and understand those things but I still have my moments.
Once I get to know new people I will happily be around them. I like children but they scare me a bit sometimes as they are loud and make sudden movements so I probably shouldn’t be left alone with them. \ I also like other dogs when I get used to them though when we are out walking I put on a pretty good show of not liking them! I am completely indifferent to cats. I do however really like chickens! They are so cool and get great scraps to eat that I help them with.
The best thing about me though is that you can take me home for free – how great is that?! The nice people at Dog Rescue Newcastle just want to find me a loving home.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
