About Indy ~ 1yo Koolie x (collie) (On Trial 25/9/15)
Indy is a female Koolie x, nearly 12 months old. This beautiful girl is very active and playful, and loves playing with toys. She gets on well with the two other medium sized dogs she is living with. She also loves being around people. Her foster parents think she is the prettiest looking dog around with the sweetest nature.
Indy has not had much training in her short life however she does know basic commands like sit. She is toilet trained. She is currently being trained to walk on a lead, to stay and to come back. Her training will need to be continued at her forever home. She plays well with a few other dogs however as she is still learning she can get a little overexcited.
Indy is very food motivated which makes training easier! She is not fussy with her food and loves chicken with her dried food! She also loves treats. Indy is very protective of her home and will let you know when someone unfamiliar is around. She does get bored easily however with further training and daily exercise this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm not sure how she is around young children, she does jump up a bit so would be better with older children.
She loves to run around and stretch her legs so she needs a daily walk or run. It would be terrific if her forever home had a larger yard, but it's not a requirement. So long as she has plenty of time outside of the yard going for walks and outings she'll be fine in an ordinary suburban backyard.
Indy would like a home where there is someone in the family that does not work full time as she just loves to have company. She would be happy to have another canine companion but it's not a requirement so long as she gets plenty of human attention.
Indy is happy to be outside during the day but enjoys coming inside of an evening for some family bonding time. She is learning to stay on her bed when inside and is now so well behaved she is able to sleep inside too.
If you're looking for a smart, sweet companion to add to your family Indy is the dog for you!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
