About Hugo
Hi, my name is Hugo and I am a beautiful pedigreed blue boy who is looking for a new home with my brother Bruno. We have existing pet insurance which can be transferred to you.
We have lived together all our lives and cry when apart. Unfortunately our owners have two young children under 5 and are finding it increasingly hard to devote the attention to us that they know we deserve. Presently we are walked daily, groomed regularly and very well fed and cared for. However we spend 11 hours per day without our humans and don't like it.
We are house trained and sleep in the house on a couch and really love the kids but sometimes we jump up on them so we are best suited for a home with older children.
We will come to a whistle or sit for treats, are dog friendly, are very playful and affectionate, use a dog door and are good on lead. We are scared of loud noises like thunder and need to be inside with you at these times.
We will be staying with our current owners until a new home is found. So if you are interested in us a "meet and greet" will be arranged.
It is very important that our new owner takes a firm leadership role or we may stress at the upheaval in our lives. If you are weak it may mean we re-direct the stress onto each other and cause us to fight. We suggest dog obedience would be a good place for you to take us for this reason so we can all get to know each other.
Stafford Rescue also have some publications on their website which have been written by Trish Harris of Four Paws K9 Training. We urge you to read "your new dog", "environmental enrichment" and children and dogs. They are found on the adoption page and contain many valuable tips.
Adoption details
If you think you can offer me a forever home please go to
http://www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au/index.php/adoption-forms-6
and fill out the Adoption Request Form. You will receive an email acknowledgement within 3 days. If you do not receive any further contact after this please do not be discouraged. It just means that a suitable application was received before yours. We encourage you to contact Jan: jan.hutton@optusnet.com.au every 2-3 weeks to show you are still interested in adopting. As we will already have your form on file it will fast track the process when a suitable dog does become available.
Adopt one of our dogs and we are there for you for the rest of the dog's life. If you find you and the dog are not suited it is a condition of sale that the dog comes back to Stafford Rescue.
