About Melody (On Trial 20/2/15) ~ Staffy x puppy
Melody is an 11 week old Staffy x puppy. She has a very laid back personality. She loves to cuddle and follow you around but she also loves to play with her sister Beauty (also available) and have a bit of a wrestle and then a nice long sleep. outgoing and beautiful personality. She is a very pretty dark brown and black brindle colour. We expect her to grow up to be a strong, medium sized dog.
As you can see from Melody's baby photos, she was born with a cleft palate. She had surgery to correct this on 23/1/15 and is doing extremely well. It does not affect her activities and she will live a normal life, except that she can't chew bones.
Melody, along with her 4 sisters Beauty, Willow, Poppy and Hope were all found dumped in a box on the Fernleigh Track when they were less than 24hrs old and handed into a nearby vet. DRN were called to take these babies into care and it was discovered that all 5 girls had been born with cleft palates. The babies were bottle fed from day one as they did not have their mother and due to their cleft palates they had a little difficulty with suckling. Sadly Puppy Hope didn't survive. You can read about them in the Newcastle Herald You can read about them in the newspaper http://www.theherald.com.au/story/2738058/puppies-with-cleft-lips-dumped-on-fernleigh-track/?cs=305
We always recommend puppy training classes to ensure our puppies learns good manners. Being still very young, Melody is still learning toilet training. Continued positive reinforcement training will ensure she becomes toilet trained when she is old enough.
Due to Melody's young age she will require company from either her human family or from another dog as young pups like her cannot be left alone for long periods of time. Melody also needs to sleep inside at night, at least until she is fully grown (and preferably all her life), and we always recommend inside time with the family to ensure puppies feel loved and included.
Melody is ready to go to her forever home now. She is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. She is available for adoption only to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she will need to be brought back to our approved vet for desexing at 4 or 5 months of age.
If you can offer Melody a loving forever home where she will be cherished and treated as part of the family then please send an email to mishl33@hotmail.com. Optional: You can speed up your application by downloading our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf then filling it out and emailing it to mishl33@hotmail.com.
