About Katoosh ~ On Trial 5/2/15
Katoosh is a joyful 4 year old Shih Tzu x Pug. Katoosh loves his humans and will greet you at the door when you get home like you've been gone forever! \ He follow you around to keep you company when you're at home and he'll quite happily stay inside on his own when you're out.
Katoosh loves his daily walks in the neighbourhood - he has a typical Shih Tzu swagger and smile as he explores new smells. He enjoys being in the car so would love to join you on outings.
Katoosh is house trained and very well-mannered inside, he sleeps in his own comfy bed on the floor and will surround himself with his toys so he's ready to play after a nap.
Katoosh has lived most of his life with another small dog and they were good buddies. Slow introductions with a new dog would need to be done as he can find new dogs a little overwhelming at first as he's not used to them. In foster care he is on his own and is quite content to be an only dog.
Katoosh would best suit a furever home with children over 13 as he may accidentally knock over or nip younger children during play time with toys as he's quite exuberant - especially when he's playing with squeaky toys!
Katoosh would suit a younger couple, a semi-retired or retired couple, a single person, or a family with teenagers. He would love a home where he gets a walk every day. Katoosh is an inside dog and needs to sleep inside. He has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
Katoosh is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside when her family is home. Dogs and puppies enjoy being part of the family and get comfort from being inside with their humans.
If you would like to arrange to meet Katoosh or have any further questions please contact Sharon on 0466 216 398 or email sharonwilliams707@gmail.com. \ Katoosh is in foster care near Wyong on the NSW Central Coast.
Katoosh's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping and registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Katoosh has ‘cherry eye’ (a small red lump in the corner of his eye) which occasionally needs drops if irritated. Many dogs with cherry eye require no surgical removal so it's at his new owners discretion if they would prefer to have this removed.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
