ABOUT TUPPY
- Tuppy is a very sweet and loving dog but he seems to be untrained and needing a calm environment and leader. He does have a mind of his own but only because he knows no better. He is a very smart dog however, and in the 5 days I have had him he has learnt to sit, wait, has become much better waking on the lead and generally a more settled dog. He has been training on how to behave and learn some manners, which he is picking up very quickly. While mentioning all his bad issues, he is just an adorable dog who just needs a calm environment and leadership. Once he has had some further training he will be the perfect dog.
Tuppy does seem to suffer from separation anxiety when I leave him. He tends to yip and bark for a while after I leave but this stops within a few minutes. This may settle down as he settles into a more regular routine. In the wrong environment Tuppy can be very excitable, he has completely changed since being at home and calmed down considerable.
Tuppy is a good guard dog and only barks when he hears people walking past or cars pulling up out the front. He does not bark at other dogs or people on his walks. As he has come more familiar with the sounds around the neighbourhood he is less on alert. He is very good in this area.
Tuppy loves people. As he is becoming more socialised on his walks he is becoming more comfortable and realising he doesn't have to meet everyone that walks by.
Tuppy's would best be suited to a calm environment, either a retiree, or a couple. I don't think he would be suitable for a family with small children. He does not need an overly active family, just daily walks and bonding time playing, but he would love to be involved in any activity ie car rides, beach, parks etc. Someone who is committed to continuing his training, provide a stable routine, and provide leadership so he feels safe and knows his place. He really is a very sweet dog, who with further training, will become a wonderful life long loyal companion.
