About Gizmo (On Trial 25/1/15)~ Maltese x Shih Tzu, male
Gizmo is a 6 year old Maltese x Shih Tzu, white with grey coloured ears. He is a darling, loving companion who wants to be near you, sit on your lap and be cuddled, or sit close by. He loves to be fussed over and enjoys the company of people including older children.
He walks well on a lead and would need to be walked regularly as he loves the outside. He gets on well with other dogs.
Gizmo loves to be brushed and is a pleasure to bath, just stands still for you. He has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
Like a lot of dogs, Gizmo can get stressed when there is a storm and will let you know beforehand. He trembles and wants to be close to you to be cuddled.
Gizmo is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. He is house trained, though, as with most dogs, there may be some accidents during the settling in period. He has been known to have an accident when left alone. Now that he has settled in at his carer's and knows he is going to be left he is happy to stay outside under cover of the shady verandah.
Gizmo would suit a middle aged person or couple, retired or semi-retired, possibly with family visitors from time to time. Gizmo would love to have someone who has time to be with him and wants a companion. He is a very affectionate little boy who will light up your life!
For more information or to meet Gizmo please phone foster carer Val on 02-4943-0615 or email grandy9@bigpond.com . (phoning is preferred) Gizmo is in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
Gizmo's adoption fee is only $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
