About Porridge
Porridge, or Podge, is a gentle, playful, sweet and happy puppy.
Already in just 10 days of foster care Porridge has proved himself to be a very intelligent and kind pup. Already Podge knows his 'sit', 'drop' and 'come' and is almost fully toilet trained (especially at night time). He has also learnt to wait for his meals calmly, learnt where the food is kept (fridge and cupboard), and learnt to sit in the middle of the kitchen quietly watching his humans cook their dinner just in case there is any help needed with the clean up and leftover scraps.
Podge loves to play with all of his toys, in particular the soft squishy ones and squeaky noisy ones. He is very good at sharing and playing gently with his foster siblings and loves to curl up with them afterwards for a nice long nap.
As equally as he loves his canine siblings and friends, Porridge also really loves his humans. Quite a softy sook, he loves to be nursed and held close and will often snuggle in the crook of your neck and full fast asleep.
MY IDEAL HOME: Porridge is looking for a home where he'll:
- have daily walks and socialising with other pups.
- have equal access to indoors and out doors during the day (being a greyhound mix with a short coat and lean body, he feels the cold easily).
- have company most of the time, either canine or human (Podge is happy to nap for a couple of hours on his own but prefers company).
- Be able to sleep somewhere soft and warm at night.
- be feed a high quality diet (to help with the straightening of his slightly bowed legs.
- have continued training (puppy school etc).
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Porridge is a low-medium level energy dog. He is eager to play with his foster siblings but tires easily and loves to either nestle in for a nap or just sit and observe his surroundings.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: So far Podge has met a number of children between the ages of 3 months and 13 years old. He is gentle and confident and is easily corrected when using his puppy teeth to introduce himself.
MY SUITABILITY TO DOGS AND CATS: Porridge has not yet met any cats but we don't foresee a problem with him possibly living with any. Already proving to be a social butterfly, Podge shows interest and confidence in dogs of all shapes, ages and sizes that he has met while in foster care.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
