About Lillie Brown (Adopted 1/2/15)~ a very special girl
Hi, I'm Lillie Brown, 7 to 8 year old, terrier mix doggie, and I have quite a story! When I first came into care 18 months ago I didn't even have a proper name, I was just called the "little brown dog". But my foster mum gave me a pretty name "Lillie Brown" because she thinks I am such a beautiful little girl.
My first 6 years were terrible. I lived with 20 other dogs. We were always outside, summer and winter, got very little food, had fleas and worms, and our only human contact was with one nasty man. I had untreated mange for so long that my hair follicles have been damaged and even though my skin is healthy now my hair won't grow back. You can read my rescue story here http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/hoard.html
I was extremely scared when I was first brought into a clean, warm home and would just hide under the bed all day and was in a really bad way. DRN saw through all that and my foster carers have helped me to become the gorgeous girl I am today. I will need to wear a jumper on cooler days, and a t-shirt on when I'm outside in the summer to protect me from the sun.
I am still quite timid and frightened of sudden movement and noises but settle very quickly, especially if you give me lots of reassurance. Young children also frighten me because even though I know they are nice, the noise is too much for me, so I need to go to a home without young children. I would just love to have a person or couple who would be home most of the time and I would love to snuggle up with them and show how much love I can give if they will love me for who I am.
I am fine to live with other friendly dogs. But I also don't mind being an only dog so long as you are home most of the time as I get a bit worried if left alone.
My vision is slowly being affected by cataracts but this doesn't stop me from trying anything. I sleep on the end of my foster mummy's bed with my foster sister Chilli but sometimes sneak up and cuddle mummy. I am happy to stay at home but I also like to go for a walk occasionally if you would like to take me.
I just want someone who will love me for the girl I am today and will never give up on me. I must always be allowed inside but will follow you outside. I am still trying to learn the proper etiquette of toileting so I still do have a few accidents until I settle into my new home. I just need to be reminded where to go and for your to be kind and gentle with me.
If you think you might have the perfect home for me please call Jo on 0428573964 or email chilliwantsoscarslaw@hotmail.com

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
