About Marty ~ mini foxy, 1yo (on trial 30/5/15)
Marty is a playful little 1 year old male, Mini Foxy. He is a wonderfully happy and active little boy who loves having other dogs and people to play with.
He is currently in care with other small dogs of varying ages and he knows which ones will run around and plays with him and which ones he needs to be more gentle and respectful of. Marty loves to play fetch and tug-o-war, he will run after the ball or frisbee and if he doesn't get there first he will steal the toy off the dog that did so he can get the treat for bringing it back. He loves tugging toys and ropes with his foster sisters and brothers and knows when to let go and calm down so you will never end up in a tug-o-war for something he is not allowed to have.
Marty is still young so needs daily walks. He loves trips to the beach where he can run and play with all the other dogs.
Walking on a lead is a delight with Marty, he is just so happy and is very responsive to learning to walk on a lead and will only pull if there is someone to say hello to. He is also house trained and knows how to sit and wait. He is such a clever boy that I think he would learn anything for a treat or a pat.
Marty likes finding new ways to convince his foster mum that he is just a quiet lap dog. If seated he will perch himself on his foster mum's lap and lay down and won't move again unless he has to. He isn't picky with his food and sits and waits until it is placed in front of him and will allow it to be taken away again at any time.
There has been lots of car trips with Marty and he is always keen to jump in the car and get going. He travels very well in the car. The only thing that Marty completely disagrees is a part of doggy life is having a bath. So washing Marty is a lovely way to cool off on a hot day. The more baths he is getting, the more comfortable he is becoming.
Marty's perfect home would be with another young and playful dog and with someone who has an active lifestyle. Because of his excitement he would not be suitable in a home with young children.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
