About Amelia (On Trial with Apollo 23/1/15)
This stunning little girl is Amelia. She is a 9 week old, Maltese x Poodle x Terrier puppy. She has a blonde undercoat, a longer white top coat and an adorable bob tail. Her cuteness factor is off the scale!
A typical puppy, she enjoys romping in the yard with our other dogs and playing with all sorts of toys. She is a healthy girl and has been very well socialised with other dogs and puppies and gets along fabulously with dogs of all different breeds, sizes and ages. I don't have a cat but she is young enough to think of a cat as just another playmate.
We recommend puppy training classes for all puppies. Amelia will need a daily walk, toys, and interaction with people. Puppies are a big commitment for approximately 15 years.
Amelia is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. She is not suitable for children under 10 because she is small and could be easily hurt. You will need solid fencing with solid material underneath such sleepers or concrete and no small gaps. She cannot go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire). Gates need to have locks on them to discourage dog thieves (sad but true).
Amelia is living her brother Apollo who is also available for adoption. They have a great time wrestling and playing together. They make a great pair if you want two puppies to love.
It would be wonderful, but not a requirement, that Amelia has a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate, or be adopted with her brother Apollo. She needs a home where there is someone who doesn't work full time, such as a stay-at-home parent or retired person.
As Amelia is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's 4 or 5 months old.
For more information or to meet the puppies, please contact their foster mum Robyn on 02 4953 7115 (preferred) or 0407 074 143 and please leave a detailed message if not answered straight away. The puppies are located in Glendale, NSW (Lake Macquarie).
Amelia's adoption fee is $600 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
