Bella on hold pending adoption

Bella on hold pending adoption. We received an emergency call from a Sydney Animal Shelter asking for our assistance. A five year old grey sable female German Shepherd had been surrendered and had not eaten since her arrival.

We immediately went to help and discovered a terrified girl squashed in the very back corner of her pen. After some quiet words and gentle song Bella allowed us to pat her and adjust her collar and she was taken straight into foster care.

Initially Bella was scared of everything. She was reluctant to eat only because she didn't know how to eat from a bowl but with patience and kindness Bella is coming out of her shell. She has learned that a lovely bed with a doona is much better place to sleep than in the dirt, she has learned that a brush is a great thing that feels good and not something to be afraid of, she has learned that a stuffed bear is great fun and that a good roll in the grass is just heaven. She has also learned to investigate noises and if required bark a warning.

Bella would need to be the one and only dog in the household as she needs to be the centre of attention and has shown reactivity with other dogs. Not knowing her past history we also would recommend no pocket pets or cats.

Bella is also extremely keen to please and has picked up basic obedience very quickly and is always looking for direction and approval when on lead. This girl is learning that life is good.

It would seem that Bella was a yard dog with no positive or kind contact from people yet this wonderful girl displays an amazing amount of affection. She has a warm and gentle soul and will make a loyal lifetime companion who will love you with every fibre of her being.

Bella would be best suited to a calm home and with owners who understand that she has had a rough time in her previous life and is now beginning to understand how good life should be.
