About Jock (on trial 22/1/15) ~ Westie
Jock is a 12 year old West Highland White Terrier x. He is a quiet boy who loves nothing more than to be around you. He is reserved and initially timid with new people and experiences but soon makes friends. He loves to garden with you and, despite his age, loves to go for a walk on the lead.
Jock is currently in care with three other dogs and gets along great with them, but I think he prefers human company. Jocks ideal home would be one where his family can spend a lot of time with him at home (eg a retired person or couple). They would need to have a calm and gentle approach with him to make him feel extra special.
He is housetrained and is an inside dog. He needs to be part of the family and to sleep inside. He is not a barker, so he'd be good in a villa, he won't disturb the neighbours.
He has arthritis in his hips, but that doesn't stop him from running around the yard and enjoying his short daily walk. His has a bit of age related hearing loss.
He doesn't fret when I'm not home because he is with the other dogs, but I think he would fret if he was left outside alone all day with no human or canine companions.
He is fine with children, but prefers a quiet life, so visiting grandchildren would be fine. I haven't tested him with cats. I have a bird aviary outside and he has hardly taken any notice of them.
Jock is a beautiful boy! He will be an absolute joy for some lucky person who wants a dear little friend to keep them company.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
