About Merlin
Meet Merlin - lovely great dane x boy - he is a great dane in a smaller package - not as large as his breed would typically present. He is crossed with a smaller size dog (maybe a boxer - he isnt smart enough to have staffy in him lol)
Like all Great danes he is timid and shy on first meeting but once he gets used to you he loves you. Once he is confident he is personality plus - very affectionate and loves his daily walk.
He loves women and children, he can be a bit timid with men but gets used to them esp if they feed him.
Merlin is good with large dogs but wasnt interacting well with little fluffy ones so he has spent a two week intensive course at National Guard Dog training centre at Berkshire park where they have taught him to walk nicely on a lead and has given him some training which will need to be continued so he can learn to play nicely with other littler dogs and cats if necessary.
Merlin's training is a work in progress and his new owner needs to be committed to continuing his education and he will be an awesome dog.
He loves his daily walk and enjoys the bush and the beach. He loves going in the car.
He can sit on command and would love to attend puppy training to learn more tricks.
He is a great guard dog and only barks if there is an intruder around.
Not a fence jumper - happily contained in a 4 ft fenced area - outside dog in foster care but would probably enjoy coming inside for a cuddle with his new forever home.
Great with other large dogs and quite playful. He loves to chase birds - so not really suitable to be rehomed with chooks and he is no good with horses either.
Merlin isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he is very loving and sweet - he would love to be an inside outside dog and would suit a family very much.

Claws n paws will offer ongoing training and support to his new owners to help Merlin reach the potential we see in him. Ideally he would suit being an only dog or house with another medium to large dog, he needs support and supervision with cats and little dogs and couldn't be left unattended initially until he had settled in with them.
Medical notes
Merlin came in with very patchy irritated skin - it is improving and he will need ongoing support with omega 3's to keep his skin healthy - he isn't itchy just a bit patchy - he was in poor condition when he turned up at the pound but is improving every week, new owner needs to commit to a healthy diet for Merlin and given his skin a nice rub with a gentle natural moisturiser to dry areas, he loves coconut oil in his food too.
Adoption details
Prospective owners contact carers via email or phone, they can come and meet the animal and make application.
Once the animal is desexed and all vet work is done the animal can be adopted.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
