About Dougie (On Trial 7/2/15) ~ 2yo Fox Terrier
Hi, my name's Dougie! I am a 2 year old Fox Terrier and I don't mind saying, I am a very good looking boy. I am full of energy and love human and doggy company. I am currently in foster care with 5 other dogs, large and tiny, plus 3 cats. Cats are very interesting creatures and if they run, I run too! Such fun, but a home without the temptation of cats would probably be better for me.
My life before rescue was pretty dull. I lived alone in the small backyard of a tiny unit and didn't have much contact with my owner. So when I came into care I was rather wary of humans and would run and hide but now I am realising that humans can be fun and I just love to snuggle on the lounge and enjoy "quiet time".
My coat is short and just requires a quick daily brush and my nails trimmed regularly and I will continue to look my best. I love meaty bones and pigs ears to chew on and I am not a fussy eater.
I sleep inside at night and I am a good boy and respond very well to praise. I'm a very snuggly boy and would love to come live with you and cuddle on your lap and join you on walks. I suppose I am really looking for a "best buddy". I am loyal, love humans, and I am very low maintenance.
My ideal home:
* would have a very secure yard with high fences.
* would welcome me inside whenever anyone is home.
* would have friendly dog of any size, so long as they are not too rough. I'd be ok without another dog so long as you don't work full time.
* any children would be over 8 years old because I am startled by sudden movements.
* Most of all, I am dreaming of an understanding, gentle owner who will help to build my confidence by introducing me to new things slowly, at my own pace. I would love my new mummy or daddy to be someone who will spend time with me and take me for walks. I walk very well on the lead.
If you would like to meet me please email my foster mum vdavies93@gmail.com. Remember I am young, loyal, and a real "hottie" looking for a best buddy. Could that be you?!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
