About Mafia
What a gorgeous, sweet, gentle, slobbery young man Mafia is.
Anyone wanting a dog like Mafia must be well versed in slobber as it's just a natural part of who this squishy faced boy is, although it's not really that bad except when eating or drinking.
He's wonderful with other dogs of all shapes, ages and sizes and is very gentle with everyone at home and at the dog park, although he's mostly lazing around near the humans with the occasional burst of puppy play excitement.
A relatively low energy boy, Mafia doesn't go for walks due to his movement issues but that doesn't phase him, he'd rather hang out on the lounge or in the sun anyway. He does walk around the yard, exploring and sniffing and will run when playing with the others or from excitement. he can also manage stairs quite well and goes up and down them with no real problem.
Mafia is still quite puppy like and loves to play bitey face and chasies with his young foster brother, which is really a funny sight.
He's house trained, sleeps beautifully through the night (but boy can he snore!), travels well in the car and is a very easy dog to have around. Well behaved and very loving, Mafia is just one lovely boy who adores his humans, smooches and lots of cuddles. And food! Can this boy eat! Be prepared for a big dog with a huge appetite, but only good quality food for his health.
Mafia is a very loyal dog who really is a one family dog...meaning he will love his family wholeheartedly and unconditionally and want to be where ever they are. He's fine with other people of course but won't seem as interested or affectionate, it really is his family that will receive all his unwavering love and devotion.
He needs another dog for company or preferably a home where someone is home is more often than not. He is not suited to being an only dog who is left alone all day.
Mafia is NOT available for interstate adoption.
Medical notes
Mafia came to us unable to walk more than a few steps without having to sit down as he could barely hold up his own weight and even needed to lay down to eat.
It's believed he has elbow dysplasia in both front legs and his hind muscles haven't developed properly.
Whilst in our care, he has been receiving a good quality diet with lots of raw meaty bones, homeopathic calcium supplements and Bowen Therapy to help release his contracted tendons and muscles.
His walking has improved greatly, he can stand while eating and he can even run now although he still waddles more than walks. He may never be completely healed and it's doubtful he'll ever walk properly. He'd benefit from some physio and maybe some swimming therapy.
Any family wishing to adopt will need to ensure his diet, supplements and treatment are continuing to give him the best chance of a wider range of movement and general wellbeing.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
