About Turtle The Kelpie (girl) (adopted)
Turtle, 10 month old, female, Kelpie. She is a very sweet natured, easy going, and unfussy girl. She loves to play with other dogs around her size and will play all day. She’s also very happy hanging with humans and receiving a tummy rub and a snuggle. She enjoys being outside as much as inside and will play with her toys and amuse herself around the yard. She is house trained and will ask to go outside by barking at you. She sleeps inside of a night and sleeps right through without disturbance. She must be allowed access inside when people are home.
Turtle is not an escape artist or barker. She rarely barks except if she needs to go outside or if she wants you to play with her. She is good in the car. She is on the smaller side of medium; lean and healthy. A great size to cuddle!
Turtle is extremely smart and attentive and a joy to train. She is really enjoying learning obedience, she sits and lays and is learning to stay and go back from the door when someone wants to come in. She loves walks and is learning to walk on the lead next to us. She is improving every day with positive reinforcement training. She would excel at training classes if you wanted to take her.
Being a young kelpie she needs daily exercise and to be provided with toys and chew toys, and of course daily interaction with people. She is very playful but plays too roughly for small dogs but is a perfect playmate for a dog her own size or larger. She is not suited to cats or rabbits, She's good with children but may be a little boisterous for children under 7.
Turtle would be well suited to an active person or family who would like a walking or jogging companion and someone to watch TV with of an evening. If you work, Turtle will need another playful dog her own size or larger as a companion.
Turtle really is a sweet little girl and would make a beautiful addition to a loving family.
