Hope (Trial 13/2/15) ~ Boxer x Ridgeback

Hope – 8 month old, Ridgeback x Boxer. Are you going to start your New Years Resolutions with “Hope”? Hope is a gentle giant and a beautiful soul. Hope is loyal, low maintenance and so very loveable. It will only take one of her huge cuddles and you will want to open your heart and home to Hope this year. She sure knows how to melt a heart, making friends with everyone she meets whether it be the vet or a tradesman, a child, dog and even a cat.

She has a gentle soul and an intense desire to love and be loved, at times forgetting she is 25kg when she climbs up onto your lap – “The ridgeback trapped in a Maltese body” we jokingly refer to her at home. She came into foster care with very sad eyes but in just weeks has found the bubbly personality we would expect in a puppy. Having said that, she is very sensible for her age! She enjoys walk and is practising her lead manners, she loves a game of tug a war or fetch but more than any of those things, she just wants you to stroke her and love her. Preferably on your lap!

Hope loved having a foster brother here and since he found his perfect home she is feeling very lonely, so her ideal family would either have another large dog for her to play with or is home through the day to give her the attention she craves. She is definitely a people kind of dog, a shadow that doesn’t want to leave your side, so much so she recently dived into the family pool to be with her foster mum.

She is a large dog with big paws and has some more growing to do, she will require a decent sized yard and tall fencing as when she stretches up to the fence she is already five foot. She will need lots of exercise and lots of stimulation as she is smart and gets lonely quite easily. She has a low maintenance coat, is not a barker or a digger however she can cry a little if she feels like she is missing out on the family fun.

Currently in foster care with two 6 year old children, Hope is very gentle but she can get excited and knock small children over by accident. \ Hope currently sleeps outside undercover in a cosy kennel but she would love nothing more than to sleep on the end of your bed and have lots of inside family time. She has some manners, such as sit and wait but still has lots to learn and will benefit from attending training classes.
