About Beau - Greyhound Puppy (On Trial)
Beau is an adorable little black greyhound boy puppy aged at only 10 weeks!
Beau is a very special boy who arrived with a healed fractured back leg due due to a metabolic bone disorder. A diet of excellent quality puppy biscuits was all that was needed for his bones to harden and heal so he will be strong enough for an operation where there will be a pin placed to correct the deformed healed fracture. The recovery time is quick at only 3/4 weeks with a few bandage changes and confinement, not total crating. This means he can lead walk and roam free at home but no jumping or rough play during this time.
Beau is looking for his forever home to come along where they can give give him the TLC, patience and training he will need post operation so not to move him him from foster to foster. The operation will be around the 12th of January with Mosman Veterinary Hospital in Mosman, Sydney so he will be ready around then to trial his forever family. We ask that the forever home is willing to take him to his post opp check up at Mosman Vet, about 3/4 weeks after his operation. All vet work in relation to this injury is totally covered by Greyhound Rescue. He may require a few trips to Physio, which we are also happy to reimburse.
His current foster says: “What do I write about him? He is the cutest little nugget ever? Heart stealer? Endearing tiny black dog? Perfect therapy? Wakes me up at 5am? Gives awesome kisses? There is no end to his cuteness….
He has learned to sit and shake hands. He is so clever. Is a favourite on the bay here. People come out of their homes to hug him, and he is such a good sport.
He loves a shoe. Loves a leaf, loves bringing everything inside with him!
Love him to bits. And my iggys love him to bits!!”
Beau is currently in foster with Jess and her 2 Italian greyhounds and has also spent time with adult greyhounds and little terriers. He is encouraged to ‘be calm’ on his bed/mat/crate. He has responded well to positive reinforcement making it easy to train him.
Beau is cat friendly however being a puppy he will test his boundaries so it will be down to the Carer to ensure a happy medium between cats and Beau.
This little delight, like all the puppies, will need to attend a good puppy school – which our behaviourist Bobby will be able to recommend in your area. He will also require consistent basic obedience training at home. Fear not! Beau will come with a puppy manual donated to us by Mali from well established dog training and walking business; See Spot Run.
Beau will be required to be desexed at a minimum of 6 months of age, so it is requested that you are able to travel to one of our recommended vets or pay the surplus in desexing costs at a vet you trust. He will be ‘on trial’ until desexed due to policy that we will not rehome un-desexed dogs. He does not have ear tags so may not officially require the muzzle.

Adoption details
Once we have found your new greyhound we will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks. We have dogs that are small dog and cat friendly.
We expect greyhounds to be 'indoor dogs' and not left alone for long periods of time. Ideally they would have a doggy or human friend for company most of the time.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
